Neptune’s Moons:

!!! Join us for a live recording !!! – an evening of sonic flights and syncopations: Voice, bass, brass, drum, synth, and stammering letter-projections.

This event will synthesize ideas of afrofuturism, diasporan travel / eternal arrival / revival / will tone and tongue the reaches of speech / wander / pace and displace.

Dark Matter: Cosmic freedom funk. A collaborative musical project from Kalmunity founder Jahsun, featuring Mark Haynes on bass, DJ Conn Shawnery as live atmospheric connector, Caulder Nash and Zach Frampton on keys. Dark matter dubs and swaggers, excavates the pocket and emerges improvising. Dark Matter collages and contrasts musical influences, form hip hop through soul, funk, reggae, while sampling voices from black power struggles and shuttling beyond.

Kaie Kellough & Jason Sharp have been composing and performing together for the past two years. Their work meets where words creak and unspell into letters and saxophones intone speech.

Jason Sharp is a Montreal based baritone and bass saxophonist and can be heard as a regular member in Josh Zubot’s Mend Ham, Sam Shalabi’s Land Of Kush, Nicolas Caloia’s Ratchet Orchestra, and the Joe Grass band. Jason is also a frequent collaborator in Montreal’s vibrant improvising community sharing the stage with Lori Freedman, Jean Derome, and Isaiah Ceccarelli, and has recorded with Matana Roberts, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and Sam Shalabi for the Constellation record label.

Kaie Kellough is a word-sound systemizer. He is the author of two books of poetry: Lettricity (Cumulus, 2004), and Maple Leaf Rag (Arbeiter Ring, 2010), which was nominated for the Manuela Dias Design Award. Kaie is the voice of two sound recordings, Vox:Versus (WOW, 2011), a suite of conversations between voice and instrument, and ESION (Howl, 2014).

Kaie’s print and sound work is underwritten by rhythm and by a desire to dis-and re-assemble language and meaning, and emerges where voice, language, music, and text intersect. He has performed and published internationally. Kaie lives in Montréal, and is presently at work on a novel.
